One of the nicest things to do after a day of sightseeing in Kohler is to relax at the Kohler Waters Spa. It's the only Wisconsin spa to get a coveted five stars from Forbes. The Lavender Rain treatment, for example, makes use of the Kohler Custom Vichy shower as part of its hydrotherapy choices.

The Restaurant for Foreigners

This upscale eatery's decor is a tribute to the many cultural backgrounds of the early inhabitants of Wisconsin. Where I ate, in the German Room, the decor was evocative of a luxurious hunting lodge, with deep green walls and an old-school, maximalist feel. Both a la carte and a tasting menu of five courses are offered to guests (vegan and vegetarian choices are included in the latter).

The River Wildlife Cafe

The restaurant at River Wildlife is, like the rest of phrazle the resort, accessible only to members and passholders. Tucked away on a trail through the woods, this cozy restaurant offers upscale takes on classic comfort meals like paninis made with roasted portabella mushrooms and fried Canadian walleye.

The Conservatory

In addition to coffee and ice cream, this courtyard café at The American Club serves up freshly baked treats like lavender apricot scones and berry cream cheese danishes. The ambiance is great, and the cuisine is decent. During the first refurbishment of the American Club, the Greenhouse was painstakingly reconstructed from a vintage solarium imported all the way from England. Beautiful stained glass windows and an assortment of plants provide a pleasant backdrop for a leisurely cup of coffee.

Woodlake neighborhood bar

The Taverne on Woodlake is a fantastic informal restaurant that is loved by both residents and visitors. Overlooking Wood Lake, this eatery is known for its innovative wood-fired spins on traditional fare like prosciutto and fig pizza and wood-fired fish BLTs.
