What Is Ashtanga Yoga?
In Sanskrit, Ashtanga is "Ashta + anga". Since the terms "ashta" and "anga" mean "limbs" and "eight," respectively, Patanjali's Yoga Philosophy, also known as the "eight limb path," forms the basis of Ashtanga yoga. The asanas, pranayamas, dharana (which we have already studied), yam, and niyam are all based on the Patanjali Yoga Sutras. Thus, we will start by getting acquainted with Patanjali's teachings.
