Champions League Tuesday Round-Up Review

Real Sociedad VS Manchester United: United with a win against Sociedad last night but the game ended in a scorele s draw along with the other game in Group A which was Shakhtar Donetsk and Bayer Leverkusen. United though did have some key chances to go ahead in the game and two key moments stood out above the rest of the chances created in the game. The first golden opportunity came when Shinji Kagawa impre sively pa sed the ball to Javier Hernandez beating two Sociedad defenders who tried to close Kagawa down, but when the ball was pa sed to the Mexican Ozzie Smith Jersey striker he blasted the ball over the top of the cro sbar not six inches away from the goal-line. The second chance for United to go ahead came when Ashley Young went down theatrically inside the box from a challenge by Sociedad defender Markel Bergara. The defender even seemed to pull away from Young as he ran by but still the United winger fell over giving United a penalty in the 69th minute which Robin Van Persie could not convert. The English winger Young came under much fire from ex-United players and pundits alike with former United midfielder Roy Keane saying Ashley Young has obviously gone down too much over the last few months, hes been heavily criticised in England, but of course were playing in a foreign country and its almost more acceptable. But I think hes conned the referee there. Another former United player Ray Wilkins also came out and called Young pathetic for his play acting during the match last on Tuesday.Final Score 0-0Juventus VS Real Madrid: This Group B clash saw . Both these teams went into last nights clash in winning form from their domestic leagues. But Juventus have done very badly in this years tournament drawing three and losing one winning no games so it would have taken a ma sive victory last night for them to stand any chance of progre sing. But all eyes were on one player in particular and that was the most expensive footballer in the world Gareth Bale. The young Welshman is yet to open his goal tally in the Champions league this year but his impre sive performance in Madrids last game against Rayo Vallecano. The match started off with Madrid nearly scoring twice but impre sive saves from Real veteran Casillas stopped an impre sive header cro sed in by ex-City player Carlos Tevez to Fernando llorente who headed it at the Real keeper who saved it with his foot. But Juventus finally went ahead from a penalty when Paul Pogba was brought down inside the box by his French counterpart Varene in the 39th minute. It was Arturo Vidal who stepped up and put the ball in the top corner of the goal leaving the Real keeper with no chance of stopping the goal. But a blunder by Juventus Rollie Fingers Jersey defender Barzagli levelled the scoring at 1-1 in the 51st minute, the Italian defender Barzagli mi s-pa sed the ball straight to the feet of Benzema who then spotted the great Cristiano Ronaldo on the left wing running into the box. Benzema made a great splitting pa s through two juventus defenders and when Ronaldo got the ball he put it pa sed Buffon with ease into the back of the net. Reals second of the game came just 10 minutes after Ronaldo put it pa sed buffon by non-other than Gareth bale, the man in the spotlight received the ball from Ronaldo and with ease Randy Jones Jersey shot the ball from the edge of the box with his left foot into the bottom corner of the net beating two Juventus players and Buffon, Gareth bale is really starting to show why the Spanish side paid so much for him. But any hopes of a win for Madrid where ruined when Juvenus striker Fernando llorente scored an impre sive header swung in from the right wing by Martin Caceres. So that is how the match finished, an overall entertaining match with chances to go ahead from both sides, but the real talking point of the match was how well the young Gareth Bale played. Could he finally be quieting critics, well maybe it is too early to judge but going by this match alone he is doing a good job at it.Final score 2-2Manchester City VS CSKA Moscow: This Group D clash on Tuesday night seen one of the Premier Leagues top clubs . With a very controversial lead up to the game due to accusations of Racist chants directed at Man City player Yaya Toure we really wanted to see a good game and for racism to be put aside for the match. City went ahead in the match very early on with due to a penalty scored by Argentinian striker Sergio Aguero in the 3rd minute of the game. CSKA nearly equalised though when in the 10th minute an impre sive pa s and move play seen Seydou Doumbia get the ball and just fire it over the bar. City also nearly increased their goal tally to two after an impre sive solo effort by Samir Nasri beating nearly 3 CSKA Moscow players pa sed the ball into David Silva who hit the side netting of the goal. But City did go ahead in the 19th minute when Aguero turned CSKA defender Berezutski Aleksey and put the ball away sweetly away from an impre sive Nasri pa s. City further increased their lead from a nice one-two play by Negredo and Aguero. The goal started from the Spanish striker Negrado pa sing the too aguero who was right of Negredo and then with the ball aguero ran down the right wing into the box pa sing the ball into Negredo who at Wil Myers Jersey this point was back post making a nice run through the CSKA defence, Aguero pa sed the ball through the centre and Negredo shot the ball into the net with is left foot. The Ru sian side got a goal back just before half time Seydou Doumbia received the ball in the box taking it around the Man City keeper pantilimon slotting it into the goal. 5 minutes into the second half City again increased their goal lead to 3 when a ball over the top by Yaya Toure found Aguero on his own inside the box who then superbly flicked it with his right foot to Negredo who also was un-marked in the box got his second of the game.Questions will be asked of the CSKA defenders Im sure as when the ball was played over the top three City players where left unattended to in the danger area. CSKA got their second of the game Cory Spangenberg Jersey when Seydou Doumbia was taken down by Clichy just inside the box getting a penalty which he put away in the70th minute but it was more of a conciliation goal than a way of getting back into the game as City again scored in the 91st minute. James Milner making an impact when he came on cro sing the ball from the left to the man of the match Negredo who headed the ball past the CSKA Moscow keeper wrapping up the game and booking Manchester Citys place in the last 16 of the Champions league. City although being impre sive in the game made a few defensive errors and silly challenges which gave away two goals which really shouldnt of, course Im sure pellegrini will pick up on these errors before up against some of the bigger teams in the tournament.Final score 5-2
