Doncaster Rovers 1-4 Coventry City

What a fantastic win!!!!! All I can say and I have finally broken my curse of a first away win watching Coventry! Going into the game I would gladly have took a point with them being second, but they were awful, truly were. Coventry bo s Mark Robins had to make one force change to his side with captain Carl Baker serving a Mike Ditka Jersey one match ban giving Adam Barton a chance to prove himself, which he did. Running up to Christmas I wasnt expecting many away fans but 872 fans so close to Christmas is fantastic and they were brilliant!Coventry played in their Brazil style yellow kit for the first time of the season and it paid off straight away as with 3 minutes on the clock Gary McSheffrey shot Brian Urlacher Jersey was blocked but Franck Mou sa controlled the loose ball and volleyed home into the top corner, an absolute beauty! It was so good that Sky Sports News gave it as goal of the day! Doncaster attacked the City goal but both Billy Painter and Iain Hume efforts were no trouble for Joe Murphys goal. The away side nearly double the lead as David McGoldrick free kick went just wide, he did make it 2 after that though. On a counter attack involving Barton and Mou sa with good build up play, the ball found its way out to Blair Adams on the left hand side who cro sed in a lovely ball for McGoldrick to head home. He should have got his second just before half time as a long ball evaded Rob Jones and sent McGoldrick on the attack; he curled it just anxiously wide.On to the second half and the skyblues started the way they ended the half off as Jordan Clarke came on for Mou sa, and the substitute whipped in a cracking ball for McGoldrick to tap home at the back post to send 872 Coventry fans into rage of celebration, which ended up me smacking someone in the face celebrating, didnt mean to! It was all Coventry as McSheffrey had a free kick tipped over by keeper Gary Woods. Coming up to the closing 15 minutes Doncaster pulled a Charles Leno Jersey goal back with what I believe was their first chance of the second half, a floating ball into the box gave a unmarked Billy Painter to head a looping header over Joe Murphy and onto the bar with substitute Chris Brown heading the rebound into an empty net. This gave the home fans some momentum for the first time of the game, boring fans! Cant believe there was apparently 6,623 fans, Kyle Long Jersey so 5800+ home fans, hate to be truthful but nowhere near 5000 home fans!! Back to the football, City were on the back foot after that goal as Rob Jones headed just wide with a glancing header. Coventry had lots of chances late on as McGoldrick had another free kick just going wide and his next effort just went over the bar even though Id say it was a save by Doncasters keeper. I was tearing my hair out how James Bailey didnt make it four as a great cro s by McSheffrey gave Bailey a great chance to header in only to head over from a few yards out, should of scored! The goal did come though at the end of the game, McGoldrick picked up the ball on the left hand side, played a great pa s to Bailey who laid off Barton who curled a cracking shot past Woods in the Doncaster goal to round off a great away win for the skyblues. Brilliant performance and a brilliant effort by the fans today, so glad I was able to break my away win curse! Let aim for Kyle Fuller Jersey the play offs! Roll on Preston Saturday! PUSB
